Discussion»Statements»Rosie's Corner» Ever hear of microplastics? Bits of plastic so small they go through filters? They are EVERYWHERE in EVERYTHING including beer. OMG?
For quite awhile now we've read about finding plastic IN FISH. I know you know about the vast enormous humongous floating trash piles in the oceans. But I didn't know that homo saps have been ingesting them too. Oy vey! They are even found in bottled water Walt! And Beer? I don't know how dangerous they are to us but it can't be helpful and nutritious and beneficial. Thank you for your reply and Happy Saturday! :)
I don't know for sure E but I can't see how they would be helpful or beneficial. We know plastic is found in many types of fish but I think maybe they haven't done any studies on homo saps because they didn't know how ubiquitous plastic is. Even BOTTLED WATER! I mean think how tiny they are if they can get through filters? I guess we'll find out! Thank you for your question and Happy Saturday! :)
I remember a few years ago when there was a big stink raised over some bits of plastic being found in frozen chicken nuggets sold at Target. There was a recall and it turns out something went awry in the processing plant causing it. Anyhoo, during the public education as to how this transpired and what the FDA considers to be within their guidelines it was revealed that there is a certain percentage of "plastics" that are allowed to be in processed foods. Its like a filler or a stabilizer. I was absolutely shocked and rather disgusted as well. I hesitate to get into the arguments of what level of plastic is healthy to ingest and what isn't. I am of the mindset that we shouldn't be taking in any. Unfortunately our government and food manufacturers have been feeding us total sh!t for years and we eat it up like ambrosia. No wonder we have become so unhealthy as a nation.
I'm with you Twink. I can't see how any amount would be "safe". They've found plastic in fish for years. I guess the fish thought it was food. Finding it even in bottled water floors me. Maybe we need better filters. I wish we'd find out that things were healthier than we thought instead of always having it be the other way around. Thank you for your thoughtful reply and Happy Saturday. So a certain amount of plastic is okey dokey in food per the fda? A certain amount of poop is too. The only ground beef we eat is organic grain fed because all other kinds have "allowable" amounts of poop. I read that a few months ago. We don't eat that much meat but I sure as heck don't want to be eating the poop of other animals. Sorry for the indelicacy but how can poop ever be anything but yucky?
I don't think the poop comes from where/what the animal eats. I think it comes during the processing stage. EG: rat droppings falling in the vats or on the conveyor or whatever.
Oh? Oh. Okey dokey! That makes me feel way better although I think poop from any source is something I want nothing to do with. Thanks Walt. I appreciate the clarification. Happy Monday! :)
