Some very smart people make very dumb choices. It isn't only intellect but also character that counts. Character determines values. Values determine actions. It's pretty much automatic robotic. You don't take credit for the way you're wired. You are limited by your wiring.
You think "boy was that ever a STUPID thing to do". Doesn't mean the person who did the stupid thing is stupid.
On the other hand consistently doing/saying stupid things does not make the doer/sayer very smart.
Can you be a GENIUS who is evil and sees the world as his for the taking by any means possible? Of course you can. Why some folks are like that is the result of cohabitation of people and they had nothing to do with it. They are the product of that booty call. No praise because they didn't work for it or earn it they were just born it.
