Journalists have to TRACK what other people say and do so they can report on them. Ever track what someone said/did? Why?

Ever have someone track you? Why?

Allegedly someone somewhere has tracked chump's lies and last reported it was over 12,000 since he was installed as "president". How do they track that? Who wants that job? Do they input the lies into a computer? How does it work?

Now I worked at a place decades ago where you had to go through the operator to make an outside call and the operator made the call for you. You gave her the number the name and the purpose of the call. It was very creepy but folks didn't make personal phone calls so it served its purpose. The operator wrote it down on a register and the owner reviewed it daily.

If there were any other kind of tracking going on anywhere else I never knew about it.
