What does it say about the USA that many take a clown/madman seriuosly? As if he were relevant substantive valuable?

Normally we should laugh at clowns and put the mad into mental institutions where they can do no harm to anyone including themselves.

But in the current iteration of the United States of Amerca the man who began as clown and now a raving madman is treated by some as if intelligent relevant sane dynamic and wondrous. Go figger!
