We live in a lawless society where might is the only right and fear rules all and terrible punishment is given without any consideration to its "being fair". Fair is an absurd and ridiculous concept in a world where anything goes at any time for any reason and no one is empowered to correct it.
The wild wild west. The better a gunslinger hotshot potshot bigshot you are the more secure you are that no one will challenge you. They don't dare. You will mow them down if they frown.
Retrograde. Reactionary. Yesterday. Long ago. Far away. The future is way back there not ahead. Simple. Just roll over and obey and smile. You can do that can't you? Survival is all that matters.
