One isn't any better than the other.. The spectrum of light from the sun can be duplicated artificially.

The light your bulb ouputs will not have all the wavelengths as the sun and some wavelengths are the ones that plants need most. It is not the same for all plants. If your bulb is missing what the plant needs it is worse but a bulb can be built to have more of what the plant needs and is better.
There are lights using LEDs to give the specific wavelengths in the specific strengths that a particular plant needs. That bulb pictured might cover the correct wavelengths but waste power on other wavelengths as well, and can create heat and dryness that might not be good.
Thank you for that info excon. Do you have a green thumb perchance? I don't think we have ever talked about that. I'll tell Jim. He is the one who wanted me to ask the question. My thumbs and fingers are all brown. I kill when I try to sustain so gardening is off limits for me! :)

good for humans but
whether that makes a difference to plants i do not know...
