Discussion»Statements»Rosie's Corner» "Women who run for president just aren't that likable". A quote from an unknown source. Do you agree/dis? Are you a gal/guy?
Since I've never personally met anybody who was a presidential candidate ... I don't know the answer to this question. I would predict that they are just as "likable" as any woman in a position of high power. And from my personal experience, such women are just as "likable" as a man in that position. Which is to say, it's still a matter of how "likable" the individual is.
You don't have to meet people to decide whether you like them Walt. C'mon! Have you ever met your favorite comedian or actor or author? I assume you find them all "likable" or they wouldn't be favorites. From what you observe/discern you like or you no like? Early on I wanted Kamala Harris. She is a Californian and I voted for her for Attorney General and Senator and I would have liked to have voted for her for president. But apparently she isn't that "likable" or she'd be doing much better. Now is Elizabeth Warren more likable? Or Amy Klobusher(sp?)? I don't think Bernie is all that likable. I didn't think so in 2016 either. Too strident and emotional for my taste. Biden's brain is not my cuppa tea. Too many gaffes. Maybe Mayor Pete will snag it. That will solve the problem of the oldsters fighting for the same job. He is the youngest one and I dare say the most intellectually accomplished. That could not hurt. Having a brilliant president after what we have had to endure with motormouth. Thank you for your reply and Happy Tuesday! :)
Actually, I do have to meet someone and spend time with them to know if I like them. I may like their stated beliefs or policies - but that doesn't mean I would/do like the person.
They raised an interesting point on NPR the other day. It was about the possibility of the Senate having to sit for an impeachment trial during the Presidential campaign. The Senators running would not be able to campaign as effectively as the other candidates, because they couldn't travel to rallies. Which would give the non-Senator candidates (like Mayor Pete) an advantage.
I like/dislike INSTANTLY Walt. Everyone gives off vibes. I notice them, do you? Also I can tell how a person explains himself/herself. The choice of words is always a dead giveaway with regard to intelligence. I am not drawn to stupid dumbs. I am enough of that on my own. I am drawn to those smarter than I am and I am privileged and honored that they spend time with me. Maybe I'm a project in progress and they take pity on me. I don't know what they think. But I am sincerely wanting to learn more and know more and I cannot do that on my own. Now do I sometimes have to adjust? Sure. I can be conned/tricked as easy as the next guy. Do I get upset that I guessed wrong? Naw. You win some you lose some and some are a draw. Thank you for your reply and Happy Wednesday! :) FYI there are folks whom I have never met in person whom I never will that I like or adore. They exist only via internet. See why I consider myself to be very lucky?
