"MR. GORBACHEV. TEAR DOWN THE WALL". President Reagan's remarkable words. The mouth sez "WHOSE GONNA PAY FOR THE WALL? MEXICO." Racist?

former president was in favor of TEARING DOWN WALLS THAT SEPARATED PEOPLE.

The current motormouth "acting" prez lusts after his ego wall to separate people.

The Light and the Dark
The Good and the Evil
The Kind and the Cruel
The Statesman and the Clown

Almost 30 years ago we had a president like that.

Today we have his opposite.

We've come a long way baby back to the past retrograde reactionary.

Reagan wanted to border secured. He just did it in the wrong order. He approved amnesty on a broken promise from Dems to secure the border.
This is why most Rep will not consider "comprehensive immigration reform" until the norder is secure.

Reminds me ... NPR has been running interviews and stories this week, to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Berlin Wall coming down.
This morning, they told the story of how some children of the time believed that David Hasselhoff was responsible for The Wall coming down.  LOL

    https://www.npr.org/2019/11/08/777155039/david-hasselhoff-is-still-big-in-germany-30-years-after-his-berlin-wall-show

    I remember Reagan's amnesty deal.
It was supposed to be a 1-time deal, for the people already in the country - but they still had to apply for citizenship or legal residence.  They just didn't have to go back to their country and wait in line.
In return for the amnesty package, Congress was supposed to update immigration laws and secure the border.  Neither happened.

That is one reason I have little faith in any political deal where "we get this NOW, and then we'll give you what you want".

Ditto kiddo. Me too..what you said. How many promises have been kept? I wonder how many promises were ever intended to be kept but well weren't? How many promises were made with no intention of keeping them? If I knew it would probably depress me bigly. SIGH. Thank you for your reply Walt. I checked on California open primaries and it seems the Dems have their open but the GOP doesn't. Some states are closed some are open some are partially one thing or another. Thanks to you I know that now. It never dawned on my that parties would put restrictions on who can vote in their primaries. I mean as long as you are a legal registered voter why block anyone? Oh well another think I don't understand. Thank you for for this reply and that info. Hasselhoff was super big in Germany. Why I do not know! :)

The thing about closed primaries is ... I'm fine with that.  After all, political parties are clubs and it's okay for them to say "only our club members can vote".  HOWEVER, in that case, the taxpayer should NOT be paying the bill.  If the taxpayer can't vote in the election, why should they pay for the costs of it?
