In 1891 he had 5 patients who were in the habit of telling EXCESSIVELY LARGE LIES. They were his inspiration for the nomenclature used to describe the condition.
What causes it exactly I don't know. Maybe a bazillion different defects/weaknesses/lackings. But it is ABNORMAL.
