They aren't Conservatives or Republicans. Perhaps they are  Trumpeters HarryD? Thank you for your reply and Happy Friday to thee! :)

"Some/many Republicans" saying that are RINO's themselves. They are just fearful of Trump upsetting their way of 'political' life.

Trump supporters include registered Republicans, Independents, AND registered Democrats who are just tired of the status quo and 'politics as usual' inside the Beltway. Why do you think the Senate Democrats have voted against the Zika Bill? Because it won't give additional funding to their pet Planned Parenthood for additional birth control (PP already gets over $500 million a year of our taxpayer dollars). That is the attitude that have pissed voters off!

  • None of Trump's ever changing positions could be mistaken for Conservatism. Authentic Conservatives with many years of political observation under their belt, understand this well. This is a revolt against a GOP that tried too hard to be a wing of the Democratic Party, by people that don't call themselves Republicans but vote that way out of a sense of necessity that they have no place at the table with Democrats. The awful truth is that when the revolt began to take hold, it attached itself to the first person to appear without the trappings of elective office. There is a historic parallel to all of this. During the French Revolution, Thomas Jefferson could find no problems with the excesses of the violence and the chaos that was produced. His friend John Adams was appalled with what he saw as the established order collapsing under anarchy.. The mob will have its followers, as will the establishment.

I guess that is why he is never going to be acceptable to true Conservatives. It's so weird. The people follow him anywhere. He is the draw. He can do whatever he wants with his supporters and they will accept it.  It matters not that the ideology is a potpourri of you-name-it and keeps changing. They are not ideologues at all. They are attached entirely to his personality and how he presents himself. What he says is irrelevant to them. Odd, ain't it? Thank you for your reply Polk! :)

  • I kinda agree with that. Much of his ideas and speach take a liberal take on the Constitution and the rights described in it. Not liberal in the sense he is leftist or progressive.
