    We have avoided nuclear. But we have made preemptive attacks when we thought needed.

    I am confused. Didn't Hiroshima and Nagasaki occur AFTER Japan bombed Honolulu?

    Indeed they did, but PH was not the end of the Japanese threat, the war or deadly attacks on US forces. 

    In the current world, I don’t think we will see another such strike, but having Caligula in the WH doesn’t inspire much confidence that it can’t happen,
