If you had continued to read the article on history.com from which you quoted, you would realize Hitler's "election" to President of Germany came after the suspension of civil liberties and the Night of The Long Knives purge of Hitler's political rivals.
Now, if you want to assert that Trump's election in 2016 was just as much of a sham as Hitler's election in 1934, you go ahead and make that case.
