When you CHEW you release digestive enzymes or something which help you to digest the food you are eating. Eat an orange or drink a glass of juice on an empty stomach? The juice has nowhere to go but straight in and the natural sugar as not a good thing to hit like that. Giving juices to kids is also not good on an empty stomach. At leasst that is what I have read and so that is what I do. I do not smoothie or juice. Occasionally tomato juice WITH A MEAL. What do you do? Do you have any stomach problems? Everything okey dokey stomachwise?
