I guess Wayne La Pierre and the NRA have been castrated! Congress passed legislation regarding gun violence research. Is the NRA extinct?

Extinct? Not by a long shot. No pun intended. The enemies of constitutional protections for gun ownership simply don't get it. There'll always be an NRA or organizations similar to it as long as  gun ownership  remains both needful, popular and protected by law. By the way, the attempt in your question to relegate the issue to the male gender by referring to "castration" is sexist and elitist. Down in this neck of the woods, more women than men are licensed gun owners. Most are better shots than their male counterparts.
