Caring. Is it extinct or just MIA? Our society appears to be devoid of it. Or at least it is underground. Does caring weaken/strengthen?

I think there are still a lot of caring people but we don't hear about their kind deeds as much as we hear about the negative actions people take.  Caring is not a weakness, it is a laudable trait when you want to help those who cannot help themselves or want to make life easier or better for others.
