Given the number of attacks on churches ... I think it's acceptable to carry some kind of self-defense to church. Especially if you go to a "black" church, or Jewish Synagogue.
A gun guy starts shooting. Armed parishioners shoot back. I dunno Walt. That ain't the way I have ever thought of church. It usta be a SANCTUARY. Hah. Thank you for your reply. Maybe copycatters are gonna take the reins and run with it. :(
Actually, the history of the church building as a sanctuary is interesting. It's also ironic. They wouldn't bury "sinners" in the church cemetery - but would allow them sanctuary against government persecution/arrest.
It's also telling that no churches offered sanctuary to "the other side" during the Protestant vs Catholic wars.
In the long ago "olden days" it was in movies that churches shone/shined. The desperados chased the innocents who sought refuge in a church. The desperadoes never defiled that sanctuary. They'd just wait outside. Movies! What do they know? Romanticizing reality is great temporarily. I believed it as a kid. Now the church spokesfolks are politically partisan SOB's and you sure as heck can't trust them. Thank you for your reply Walt and Happy New Year's Eve day to you and yours! :)
Thank God there were people there with a gun. They killed the shooter in 6 seconds. No telling how many people who were saved if they had not been there.
I know m2c. How sad is THAT? Long ago before your time churches used to be sanctuaries. The clergy were always respected even by the bad guys. That was before we knew that bad guys exist within the church bigly and bigtime. Thank you for your reply and Happy New Year's Eve day to you and yours. I hope 2020 is a better year than this one was. I know you want more of the same. Different strokes! :)
