What NATIONAL traditions does your country observe as the New Year rings in?

In America we watch the crystal ball drop in Times Square in New York City. We watch the Rose Parade in California. And then there are football games folks watch. There may be other traditions too that I'm forgetting to mention. OH. We eat black eyed peas on New Year's Day for good luck!
