Must everything have a useful purpose to be of value? Do you believe that "beauty is its own excuse for being"? Could you live without it?

Of what value or purpose are sunrises sunsets rainbows or the Aurora Borealis?

    Oh, indeed - there is  much that is valuable by simply being beautiful whilst having no objective value or even purpose. 

    We do need the sunsets and sunrises though, or more accurately the Earth's rotation which they show.

    The beauty of beauty is that once you observe it then you can always recall it in your mind's eye! Once experienced always there to enjoy. I know that beauty is in the eye of the beholder Durdle but really who would not agree that a sunset can be breathtakingly gorgeous? Thank you for your reply! :)
