    Probably because those are, or can be, more subtle and insidious than direct attack.

    It does not mean the critic is necessarily any more right or wrong, just more careful in the way of criticising.

    That way he/she can say "Who me? You are mistaken." Plausible deniability? I dunno. Straight out straight up works best for me. Sometimes on occasion on the other hand alluding works better because those questions are intended for the cognoscenti if ya get my drift. It's kind of fun to be talking about things some don't understand at all. It's not a code it's just filling in the blanks...reading the underlying meaning....reading between the lines Reading/seeing the handwriting on the wall written in invisible ink.
