I was 16 and with my then best-friend( a guy) ushered an event at the Philharmonic Auditorium. I was going to my station to do my job and I passed a stairway where some of the attendees were going up to the balcony. A young man of perhaps 16 or so caught my eye as he went up the stairs with what I assume were his parents. He looked like a young version of Robert Redford. He is etched in my brain forever. Do you have a similar moment that has stayed with you for decades?
On another occasion I saw a lovely young woman dressed very simply. Long hair, no makeup but she didn't need any. She wore a watch that was more like a bracelet that was loose on her wrist. She seemed to float as she walked. I wanted to look just like her. So I stopped getting perms and let my hair grow out. Any watch I had after that was a bracelet watch. She was plain and beautiful. Funny what you remember isn't it? And how you react to it?
I am not lovely but I am happy with having had her as my "idol". Have no idea what kind of person she was but she definitely was has been and is a huge influence on how I dress. I wonder if she'd be shocked or pleased?
