Would you be willing to let dumb don walk if he confesses to the mess, apologizes, resigns and stays out of sight/sound forever?

Even though he is a corrupt criminal who committed treasonous traitorous acts? Just to get him off the pot and far away in some cornfield from which he would never be able to twit a tweet or give a speech or rally? Disappear into outer space?

Would that be worth it? If it were possible at all which I can't see how it would be?

I would let him resign from the presidency without any pre-conditions because I know that once he's out of office, New York City and New York State will be able to get their hands on him for the myriad other offenses of which I believe he's guilty.  Those other offenses could easily land him the pokey for the rest of his miserable life.

That's right. I forgot about that m'dear! The FEDERAL gubment wouldn't prosecute in this scenario but the State of New York??? The SDNY? I think their slate is full of dumb don criminal corrupt actions within the state and that is a separate issue. Just to get him out of our hair at the national level. Off the air. No more twit tweets. Oh just the thought of it sends me to a swell place! Thank you for your thoughtful reply L and Happy Sunday! :)

Apologize?  Him???  The word isn't even in his vocabulary.  Why, if he ever apologized for anything the world would end.
Sadly even if he were allowed to walk he's too stupid to do it. (and he's the best at being stupid)
Oh, that he could be out of sight forever.  But its not possible. he's been butting into things, voicing his unwanted opinion for many years now.  If he couldnt be an a$$ he'd implode.

I know. That is one of the most far out fantasies I've ever entertained Shuhak. But think how swell a dumb donless world would be  MIA on TV or Radio or magazines or newspapers. Udderly heavenly! One can always dream. Thank you for your thoughtful real-world reply. Once again you pulled me back into reality! SIGH. :)

  • He would never resign ... and probably won't leave office even after his term is up if he is re-elected either.  He has been skirting/breaking the laws his entire business life.  Karma has got to kick in sometime, even if he keeps getting passes legally!

Some say he will not leave quietly. That he will have to physically removed kicking and screaming! Being as how he is way obese it will takes lot strong folks to pick him and throw him out! A scenario I hope never happens but well anything is possible with culthead dumb don. Nothing is too extreme or outside the realm of possibility with him. Unfortunately! Thank you for your reply Mrs. C and Happy Monday to thee! :)

    I am torn.

On the one hand, I do think removing Trump from office would be a net benefit to the United States (even if VP Mike Pence, with whom I have massive political disagreements, were to take over).

On the other hand, I think one of the ongoing problems with governance (I am most familiar with the United States, but I'm sure it happens elsewhere) is powerful/wealthy/influential/popular people committing misdeeds and being allowed to slink away with almost no consequences for their actions.

    Examples:

--In 1968, presidential candidate Nixon committed treason. This is basically indisputable. He sent back-channel communications to the North Vietnamese government, encouraging them to not negotiate a peace treaty with LBJ, because he would cut them a better deal after the election. I have heard audio of LBJ talking to a colleague saying he KNOWS Nixon did this and could have him arrested...but won't do so because it would be too disruptive.

--In 1974, Nixon was preemptively pardoned by President Gerald R. Ford. Again, his claimed motivation was that moving on from Watergate would allow the country to "heal." I think what actually happened is it gave would-be abusers of power a road map on how to do it in the future.

--In the 1980s, the Reagan administration provided funding for the Nicaraguan Contras by selling armaments to Iran and funneling the profits to Central America. This was a direct violation of US law (the Boland Amerndment). A few minor functionaries were tried, some were convicted...and President George H.W. Bush then pardoned all of them.

--In the 2000s, basically the entire world financial system started committing fraud. The massive bubble in real estate and mortgage-based financial instruments  would not have happened if the actors in the system had not repeatedly and systemically lied to each other. Basically, the industry shrugged its collective shoulders, said "Whoops! Our bad!"...and continued on with business as usual (after some massive government bailouts).

    The examples are legion.

I think at some point, We The People need to put a stop to such abuses. I don't know if Trump's is the "line in the sand", but at some point this trend does need to change.

OMG SP! You sure do have a way with words. You sure do have a way of explaining reality and our past paths to getting here. I am verklempt and right now in despair. I did not realize any of what you just wrote. Bad on me but good on you. So how do we "fix" what we the people tolerate? Is it fixable or just a pipe dream as it were? AARRGGHH! I dunno. Is there a way out? Almost half of we the people adore culthead dumb don beyond belief. Don't we have to "fix" THEM? Are they fixable? Thank you for giving us much to ponder on. :( The unhappy face is not due to you but to what you informed us about none of which was your doing! :) This post was edited by RosieG at January 20, 2020 3:14 AM MST
