Being boiled to death. A most horrible way to die. Five people died this way. How?

They were in a basement hotel room in Perm, Russia when a not water pipe exploded at night filling the basement with boiling water.

    I was unable to find much detail in news reports, but human beings are fallible (unlike cockatoos...)

    Hence, any system engineered by humans is potentially fallible.  It will probably turn out the tragedy is the result of a complex mixture of design fault, improper manufacturing, improper installation, unanticipated operating parameters, and/or human decision mistakes. That's what usually happens in situations like this.

    It was on yahoo news. I check that out as well as Google news. But a BASEMENT room where people pay to stay in a hotel? I have never heard of that before SP have you? Thank you for your reply! :)
