Ever hang out with anyone who disgusted you? Why would you?

Unless we're trying to use someone, that's the only reason we hand out around others.

Humans are social, communal.  We want (need?) to feel like we belong (fit in).  The more things a person has in common with another, the more draw there is to them.  This is how friends are made.  The more one has in common with another, the better (closer) friends they are.  A person's "best friend" is someone with whom they have a lot in common (this is why those whose spouse is their best rfioreing have better marriages).

Now if someone disgusts another person, it repels them.  Depending on their relationship (how close of friends they are), it can either be forgiven or drive them apart.

Thank you for your thoughtful reply Shuhak! Ever been forced to work with someone whom you didn't trust who tried to harm you? It's a bummer bigtime! :)

I don't consider working with someone to be the same thing as hanging out.  Hanging out is a voluntary thing, meaning we choose whether or not we want to hang out with someone.  We can't voluntary choose who we work with or not.

True dat. But once upon a time I had a terrific job and LOVED everyone of the folks I worked with. I had a boss who was a brilliant guy which is always helpful. Working for someone who knows less than I do is not my cuppa. I had one awful experience with that. Anyway my boss was the VP of Finance and he was a Filipino (sp?) American. Many of my co-workers were also Filipino Americans and I fell in love with them! No kidding. Also when I went through chemo in 2008 my chemo nurse happened to be a Filipino American...Rowena. She was awesome. I mention that because ever since I had that experience I AUTOMATICALLy am drawn to Filipino Americans. I feel safe and secure and good around them. Prejudiced absolutely and I don't hide it. It's like coming upon someone who is of Armenian heritage. I'm drawn to them. Anyway if I could design a perfect workplace it would be what I enjoyed there. I won't bore you with an opposite experience. I'd rather end on a high. Thank you for your reply Shuhak. I think I'm gonna ask what the best job anyone ever had was! :)
