When you DISAGREE with someone are you also being critical of him/her or simply saying you have a different opinion?

I like broccoli better than I do potatoes. You don't. Is there a problem there or is it simply a matter of taste/preference? Is there any criticism implied beneath the lines? Why would there be? Wouldn't that be very silly?
