  • My favorite republican huh?
    That's a difficult one.

When Julie Andrews sang the words  "...these are a few of my favorite things"  In The Sound Of Music one thing she didnt make mention of amongst the rain drops on roses and whiskers on kittens, was a favorite Republican senator and I too can say or even sing with absolute certainty of that being one thing that has never made my list of faves either.

For me, when the dog bites, when the bee stings, when I'm feeling sad is probably because the regressive right has a stranglehold majority in Congress.  So those are the times I simply remember my favorite things like progressive democratic agendas and then I dont feel so bad.

And those wild geese that fly with the moon on their wings, may they leave ample droppings behind on the head of Mr. Trump.

Thank you for your poetic reply. For me it used to be John McCain. Now it is Mitt Romney. I also used to like Nelson Rockerfeller back in the long long long ago and for a prez  I liked Ike. Happy Friday to thee! :) So you can't come up with even one republican? Sad that in my opinion. This post was edited by RosieG at February 7, 2020 5:44 AM MST

  • I guess anyone can have a shining moment which we can marvel at and be temporarily impressed with but if I look at their republican positions and policies over a long span, sadly they just begin to lose their short lived luster and seem tarnished.  I think it's great that Romney grew a pair and stood up to Trump but on the whole I still think the man has some very flawed ideas.  And McCain though he served our country well in the military, I am of the opinion that he didnt do nearly as stellar a job in politics.  And I still wish someone would explain his picking Sarah Palin to possibly be one heartbeat from the presidency.  Rockefeller I am not well versed enough on to speak about but I will say you have given me food for thought Rosie.  And i wonder, if I tried harder could I manage to name one I would call a fave.  I'm not sure but my mind is already trying.

    Have a blessed day Rosie.

McCain didn't pick sarah. She was thrust upon him. The one he wanted to run with him was a former democrat who turned independent. His name escapes me at the moment. But the RNC didn't want him so McCain was stuck with the barbie doll brunette version. Thank you for your reply. I do pay stock to shining moments. I always have. McCain corrected a vicious woman at a rally when she attacked Obama and he stood up for him and told her Obama was a very good AMERICAN and he just didn't agree with some of his policies. The other shining moment was when he gave a THUMBS DOWN and royally screwed dumb don out of a victory in front  of everyone. Dumb don will never forgive him for that. I will never forget him for that. I like to give kudos when they're due no matter who the kudo person is. So I guess I'm unlike you in that respect. I appreciate a kindness from whatever source and I NEVER FORGET IT. That's just how I'm wired. Thank you for your thoughtful reply m'dear. Different strokes never hurt anyone! I like my new Senator Josh Hawley.

Now if I had to pick a Dem Sinaturd, that would be Manchin.
