Whenever I hear this song, I can't help but think of the David Lynch movie Blue Velvet that featured this song as the soundtrack to a brutal beating.

Why would they ruin a beautiful song by using it as the soundtrack to a brutal beating? Why couldn't they have used the Angels' despicable song "My Boyfriend's Back" as a soundtrack for that instead? That song does glorify violence more than any other 1960s song I've ever heard. Now that you've told me that I don't think I'll bother to try the "Blue Velvet" movie after all. It makes me wonder what nasty business is going on when the title song is playing.
Have you never seen any David Lynch movies? They are very odd, yet mesmerizing. You can't take your eyes off the screen, but if you have a weak stomach, they may not be for you.
I've seen "Elephant Man" once, and while it was well-made and well-acted I thought the entertainment value was zero. The rest of his films listed on Wikipedia I haven't seen although I have heard of most of them. None of them look especially interesting to me.
