Another twice-a-hit soul classic, this one first appeared in 1966 and reached the Top 10 on both sides of the Atlantic. It was reissued in 1974 and then it enjoyed a second run in the UK, this time doing even better than it did first time around.
A great soul classic. Jimmy's brother David was a member of the Temptations before leaving and having a successful solo career.
Yes, I knew that. David had one solo hit in the UK, "Walk Away From Love", which got to #10 here. The other member of the Temptations to score a solo hit in the UK was Eddie Kendricks ("Keep On Truckin'"). Hard to believe both those guy are dead now, and so is Jimmy Ruffin. Sad world. :(
If you've never watched Live Aid, one of the many highlights for me was when Hall & Oats had David and Eddie join them onstage to cover Temptations songs.
I did see parts of Live Aid when it was on TV that time, but I had other things to do and I didn't stay in watching the entire show.
Hall and Oates' live album "Live At The Apollo" includes a medley of Temptations songs featuring David and Eddie.
