I heard a great cover of " The Letter" yesterday.... Then I remembered " Mad Dogs and Englishmen".....A great ALBUM.....Comments ?
Not exactly the right "Mad Dogs and Englishmen".... Try Leon Russell, Joe Cocker, Rita Coolidge etc !
I bought that album on vinyl about 25 years ago. Here's the live version of "Delta Lady" from it:
It was also the name of a movie featuring a rag time group of performers touring with Joe Cocker ! Leon Russell was part of that group, Russell wrote Delta Lady.
It also had a great version of "Superstar" by Rita Coolidge......I met her in Vegas ,but she wouldn't drink the drink I fixed for her !
" Mad Dogs and Englishmen" was an album and a movie..... Any idea why my question keeps getting edited ? .. Evidently SOMEONE added the Judy Garland reference to my question, which threw the whole topic out the window. Then SOMEONE decided to edit the question to read " The Ballad of Mad Dogs and Englishmen" .
We're you responsible for changing / editing my question twice ? If so, WTH ?
Thanks a lot !...Andy B had no problem understanding !... Seems like there are too many chiefs here and not enough Indians !
Yes, I remember Rita Coolidge singing "Superstar" on it. She has a really nice voice. I love her version of the Boz Scaggs ballad "We're All Alone", I like it better than the original.
Thanks, ALF. As I mentioned elsewhere on this discussion, I understood because I bought that album myself years ago. Lol:)
