Status Quo - Rockin' All Over The World (1977)

This song was originally recorded in 1975 by its composer John Fogerty (of Creedence Clearwater Revival fame), and it was moderately successful in the USA. Two years later, Status Quo covered the song in their own familiar style and it became one of their biggest hits in the UK.

  • I had never heard this version. I prefer Fogerty's original.

Status Quo's version did not chart in the US, which is probably why you haven't heard it before. It got to number 3 in the UK and sold enough copies to get a Gold Disc, and is so well-known here that not many people knew it was a cover version. John Fogerty's original version didn't sell in the UK, and if Status Quo hadn't covered the song it would have remained in obscurity here. That's another example of the British and American charts being different. Lol:)
