53% white women voted for Trump, the misogynist! What do you think about that?

Some Republican women must have totally ignored everything Trump that showed how he treated women, even on National TV. There were videos of him doing it, for God's sake! What will they tell their daughters, when their daughters find out their parents supported Donald Trump? You talk about war on women? I'm afraid to even think what other policies and laws will be passed. Oh...the horror... the horror.

    Sometimes I hate being right.
I hope he proves us all wrong.

"I can't understand why anyone wold vote for him."

And if you listened to the news, you would have heard people say the same thing about Hillary. That's why we have elections in the first place.

@SugarSkull, I certainly hope Muslim and Hispanic women are going to be safe. Already I'm hearing terrible stories about how the KKK and White Supremacists think Trump has given them license to do what ever they want. It's happening!

I volunteered as an escort for Muslim women to go shopping or to a doctors appointment back about a decade ago when Afghani women and children came here fleeing the Taliban.  The hatred even then was menacing.  Now I an see it being validated at the highest level.

@SugarSkull, it's not only Muslims. It is Jews, Hispanics, gays, Native Americans, and any other white person that doesn't agree with them. I hope Trump can fix this, now that he has the White House and the media to get his messages out. He can either do that or make it worse.

@LaMarguerite......I hope he makes an attempt but his lack of action in reining his supporters in since the election leads me to believe his grab for power was not based on anything other than the love off power.  I am Native and I'm very aware of what this means for us....and my gay friends and family and anyone other than his dedicated adherents.  He seems to display no interest in unification...per se.

  • Why did women vote for him? Good question.. i hate to insult them but from what i saw Trump supporters weren't the sharpest tools in the shed.. so....

It's relevant too that Hilary was so unpopular... so they voted for what they felt was least worse option.. they were very mistaken imo but that's what they did..

Allegedly men voted for trump cos they wanted to hang on to the last vestiges of male pride.. couldnt accept being told what to do by a female prez..

Who knows people do stupid things .. it's happened before where Americans have been whipped up to a frenzy and believed things they shouldnt have believed.. women are certainly not immune from that too

I have an idea which is that instead of insulting the women who vote for you trump you speak to them and understand why they did that.
Instead of thinking men voted for trump because they could not accept female president tell them what to do (when does a president tell people what do to?) you could also speak to them and understand the real reasons.

  • Interesting response.. I have spoken to a lot of trump supporters women and men.. Perhaps you are correct i shouldn't use the word stupid.. oh look actually i didnt.. I said that a lot of people believed a lot of things they shouldnt have.. I avoided insulting anyone to be honest so i am a bit surprised you feel that way.. but I can say, that from my experiences *of* talking to them.. they weren't the sharpest tools in the shed.. not very bright..  Fact is anyway that the figure/the stat quoted is questionable. I think someone misinterpreted that.

I'm still shocked by the whole thing.  I'm old enough to remember when the conservative right ran on the "Family Values" platform and seemed over concerned what everyone was doing in their bedrooms.

What the hell happened?  Even liberals can't condone how Trump behaves.

I fear that our country is more sexist and racist than I ever knew.

My fear is for those who had no part in the digging yet still find themselves in that same hole ... This post was edited by Benedict Arnold at November 10, 2016 2:16 PM MST

It's mind boggling to read that statistic.  In the past, I would jump down the throats of those who called American's stupid.  I would have to hesitate before doing so now.

  • I think several things.

I think that perhaps for many, the way Trump has been demonstrated to behave isn't so unusual, or shocking.  I think that the neo-liberalism that has been espoused by all and sundry for decades has failed and has been seen to fail by a large number of people: Clinton bore the brunt of that.  I think that holding elections that actually discuss policy would be a good idea rather than the reality show that has been delivered.  And I think that there is little point in holding elections if the voting population either aren't given any policy to vote on or are too ignorant to understand it should it make an appearance.

And I think the next few years are going to be very interesting indeed.
