When I was a teenager, I had a friend who joined the Navy.  He would send me coins from each country they docked and I saved them.  I have them somewhere, but can't recall offhand just where. :)

Cool...I did the same thing. I forgot I did that and recently found them. From Germany to Kenya and numerous ports in between. This post was edited by Element 99 at February 13, 2020 1:45 PM MST

Were you up late last night?
If so, was this question inspired by the "Coin Guy" that comes on at about 1:00 am??
He wakes me up on occasion and it drives me crazy!!
I have never understood why someone would pay 19 dollars for 25 cents.  Talk about a rip off!

Yes, I did collect coins as a kid and still do as an adult.  I collect as many as I can and put them in a bank.
    ;) :)

I am speechless.  Why and how is this possible?  I think it is a rather handsome coin but don't understand why it would be worth more than the face value?
    Will you please enlighten me?
    :) :)

If you don't collect coins, you would not understand. I collected for 55 years.and studied their history and other trivial facts. I have given my collections to my kids to pass on to theirs.
