Pope Francis on Sunday gave special prayers for those sickened and killed by the coronavirus, praising the “great commitment” to contain the outbreak that is sparking global panic.

“I would like also to be close to and pray for the people who are sick because of the virus that has spread through China,” Francis told tens of thousands of people in St. Peter’s Square for his weekly blessing.

“May the Lord welcome the dead into his peace, comfort families and sustain the great commitment by the Chinese community that has already been put in place to combat the epidemic,” he said.

The coronavirus has infected nearly 2,000 people and killed at least 56, all in China, officials there have said.

Early Sunday a third US case was also confirmed, with an Orange County patient who had just returned from the outbreak’s epicenter, Wuhan in China, joining cases in Chicago and the Seattle, Wash., area.

Seriously...are we supposed to worry about the corona virus? My brother-in law will be dead in a few days from complications from the flu. He wasn't vaccinated.

CDC estimates* that, from October 1, 2019, through February 8, 2020, there have been:

    26,000,000 – 36,000,000
    flu illnesses

    12,000,000 – 17,000,000
    flu medical visits

    250,000 – 440,000
    flu hospitalizations

    14,000 – 36,000
    flu deaths

Apparently, preventable deaths are less newsworthy. Approx 16,000 children die of starvation EVERY DAY. Anyone heard?

So much for the news cycle....

Yet the sick keep dying. What has praying done for them?

People were told to pray to God to end plagues back when they ”knew” disease was spread by demons; per the teachings of the same church Pope Francis now heads. And they did.
But hundreds of millions of them died of plague anyway.

Two hands working are more useful than ten thousand clasped in prayer.

Christians can pray for anything.. But a prayer is a request.. If it is the will of God to guard a person from this, then they will be guarded.. If it is the will of God to remove this virus then it shall be removed.. Gods will shall be done.
