    Avalanches are actually started on purpose by firing explosive projectiles toward the top. This prevents skiers from starting them accidently. Thanks for asking all of these question that I can answer literally. This post was edited by Element 99 at February 23, 2020 12:48 PM MST

    You're welcome. So the skiers that die under a mountain of snow from an avalanche while they were on the slopes skiing didn't hear the explosion? Weird. Thank you for your reply. Something is wrong don't you think if the info about a blowup on a mountain isn't transmitted to skiers?

    No. You misunderstood me. They slopes they blow are unusable and the skiers are warned to stay away so the rangers can cause an avalanche. It's to ensure skier safety.
