    I highly doubt that.
Maybe the specific COVID-2019 ... but the Lysol label claims it kills coronavirus, so there must be a way to test for it.

btw - did you see the video of the spray trucks in China?  LOL
Just more political "look, see, we're doing something" propaganda.  At least our politicians aren't so blatant about such things.

How up-to-date are you Walt on what's being reported today? Some gubment official said it will not be a matter of IF the Coronavirus comes to America and spreads but a matter of WHEN. A report today said that it will take a year and half to find a vaccine that will address it. So you say CORONAVIRUS is specifically mentioned on a Lysol can by name? How old is it? It says it kills germs that cause colds and viruses. How can you be sure that INCLUDES Coronavirus and if that were the case why wouldn't the entire world be spraying Lysol everywhere so people wouldn't keep dying? Just wondering Walt. I'm going to Google "when did the Coronavirus first appear?" Thank you for your reply. This post was edited by RosieG at February 25, 2020 1:37 PM MST

    My post was slightly jesting.
Lysol and Clorox labels claim to kill germs from the "human coronavirus".

There are MANY "coronavirus" strains.  That is why they finally came up with a name for this specific strain, and most media outlets are now using that name instead of the generic "coronavirus".

It's not even a matter of WHEN the virus will spread.  It already has.
It would probably be worse, but developed countries (such as the US) require childhood vaccines which tend to slow outbreaks just by training our bodies to recognize and fight other viruses.

I've heard interviews with a couple American scientists who say that they are getting data from Chinese medical researchers.  So while they don't trust the Chinese government data, they trust their colleagues they are in direct contact with.  I have no doubt if we relied on Chinese government data for answers, it would take longer.  Plus, with people infected in other countries, we don't even have to rely on the Chinese data.  We'll have data from dozens of countries coming to the WHO and CDC.

Apologies Walt! I screwed up again! I often don't grasp things said in "jest". My default mode is SERIOUS. This is how naive/dumb I am. I read the label of our can of Lysol! Sheesh. Thank you for your thoughtful helpful informative reply. Of course dumb don has weakened our ability to act by decapitating many health related agencies. His timing is wondrous fair. Happy Wednesday m'dear! I feel kinda sheepish! :(

NPR is saying this morning, that the CDC is encouraging Americans to prepare for "drastic measures" ... such as working from home, or not going to public places (shopping, theaters, etc) ... if the virus starts to spread as it has in other countries.

I don't know where it came from, where it will go or how we will get rid of it (if that's even a possibility).  I know that we are feverishly trying to create a vaccine.  How effective it will be is yet one more unknown.  Last I heard, there is a cocktail of existing antibiotics and anti-virals which may be useful for preventing death in some cases.  The problem is that stocks of those drugs are being depleted quickly and could easily cause a depletion faster than manufacturers can produce more.

It was reported it will take a year and half to develop a vaccine to combat it. Some gubment guy said "it is not a matter of IF the Coronavirus will spread in America but WHEN. So be prepared for worse to come. The dumb don said it isn't anything to worry about. Then he asked for $2.5 billion to combat it. He doesn't have a clue which end is up. Thank you for your reply L! :)

I agree.  There is new information coming out every day.  I, too, believe it will spread in the U.S. because it's already here and we have no way of knowing how many who contracted the virus have no symptoms, but are able to infect others.

The only crowded places we regularly go are markets L. And we usually go early when crowds are lighter. We don't go to concerts or anyplace where thousands of people gather. I wonder how those who travel in their jobs are going to deal with this? And having no symptoms but infecting others is about the scariest thing I've heard. Good luck to all of us. Thank you for your reply and Happy Wednesday! :)

Happy Wednesday. :)  I stay away from crowds, too, even when there isn't a serious health issue involved.  Companies are being urged to do business by teleconferences rather than in person; airlines will surely suffer in the short term; those who can work from home will be encouraged to do so.

Also restaurants, hotels and local businesses. It's too late to contain the spread but maybe ti can be slowed down/mitigated in its journey. I'm waiting to hear from rushbaugh as he apologizes for saying what he said. I know. Don't hold my breath. SIGH. Do you have those little face masks on hand L? We have a box of them. I expect we will be seeing folks wearing them. Will you? Thank you for your reply! :)

Rush is not an apologizer, so don't hold your breath.  Restaurants and local business will suffer, too.  I have one face mask, but I used it for something else and I am not going to use it or buy more.  I'll take my chances.
