According to an interview with a CDC spokesperson, people should just take the same precautions they take with normal cold/flu.
Stay home from work/school, if you feel ill.
    Don't cough/sneeze on others.
    Wash your hands.
    Don't touch your face.

The people at risk are the same ones at risk during flu season.

I was listening to the interview and wondered about those parents who purposefully expose their kids to chickenpox and measles.
Do they have their kids get exposed to ALL diseases?  Do they ask strangers who are sick, to cough/sneeze in their child's face?

When I heard that report I thought of you Walt. How close are you to that cluster? Thank you for the helpful list. I've heard that coughing and a fever are possible symptoms. I have not heard of purposely exposing children to anything. I thought parents were supposed to protect their children. That seems VERY DANGEROUS to me but then I lead a sheltered life. Where did you hear/read that? I wonder what other kinds of "unique" methods they use in rearing raising? Thank you for your reply and Happy Tuesday! Also I read that you should NOT use masks. They don't help and they might hurt. Nothing is ever simple! :) This post was edited by RosieG at March 3, 2020 1:32 AM MST

I think all the cases have been found in the Seattle metro area ... or at least in that county.
I live a couple hours down the I-5 highway ... and avoid going to those large metro areas, anyway.

My risk is more through the ship crews that visit Astoria, OR ... and the cruise ships that will dock during the summer.

That is very good to know Walt. Thank you for letting me know. Hopefully by summer it will be under control and diminishing. Right now we're doing some adjusting to our routine. No more meandering in crowded stores with no particular purpose or going to close out sales unless we NEED something. No shaking hands. Washing them a lot. Don't wear masks as it seems wearing them does no good and enhances the risk of getting the infection. We didn't buy masks. We already had a box. When Jim uses the leaf blower he puts on a mask to keep the dust away because he has allergies and also has noise-deadening headphones he wears to protect his hearing. Here's looking at you kid! Keep safe Walt! Happy Super Tuesday. Is your state one of the 14?

That's great m2c. So far so good. Well you know there are not enough test kits and some of those we had were defective. Also there were only 5 labs that could process the results. Now I believe there are 40 labs and they are working on getting more test kits produced and sent out. As of last Friday only 445 people have been tested. With more tests there will be more discoveries and hopefully no deaths. Thank you for your reply m2c! Stay safe. This post was edited by RosieG at March 3, 2020 7:17 AM MST

I would think a Flu test could eliminate need for some of the testing. If you test positive for the Flu then it is not CoronaV

Covoid 19 symptoms are SHORTNESS OF BREATH FEVER COUGH. The only time I had "shortness of breath" was when I was about 8. I stood up in the tub and slipped and hit my side on the edge and couldn't breath except in short spurts. I assume that is what it is. Flue never caused shortness of breath for me. Has it caused it for you? Thank you for your reply. I think flooding waiting rooms to take tests for Flu would not be wise. People who have Flu are not at risk. Most folks who get flu shots (we always do) do not get the flu. :) This post was edited by RosieG at March 3, 2020 7:28 AM MST

Excellent ru. Hope that number does not increase but more test kits are being developed to test more folks to find out. Stay safe. Thank you for your reply and Happy California Super Tuesday to you! :)
