I just watched a documentary about a couple who bought a defunct nuclear missile complex in Kansas. The gov is selling them for $40,000. They turned it into a beautiful home. It is quite safe and can withstand a 5 megaton blast.

Geez E remember BOMB SHELTERS in the long ago? $40K for a home is CHEAP but Kansas? Do they have one located by a California beach perhaps? How many of them are there? It can stand a 5 megaton blast but can it withstand COVID 19? What kind of air filtration system would be necessary? How old is the couple? Who is gonna bomb KANSAS? Anyway thanks for the info. Good to know. Just in case we find $40K somewhere that we don't need to use elsewhere!  But wait a minit. I get claustrophobia. Living underground?  Me? I dunno. SIGH. :(

Kansas was chosen for the missile sites since they are in the center of the country. That makes it easier to lob a missile to Russia. The couple looked to be in their early 60s. Since men had to man the silos 24/7/365, they had all of the facilities to house an feed them. The filtering systems were state of the art at the time they were built...early 60s.

Have you ever been down in the earth for any reason E? Like a cave or underground tunnel? I saw something about diamond mines (I think that's what the men were looking for) and I think they took an elevator DOWN a couple of miles. I might have gotten that all wrong but just watching that contraption take people down into the bowels of the earth gave me the heebie jeebies. Kansas is also where Dorothy and Toto lived right? Thank you for your knowledgeable reply. Didja watch/listen to any part of the debate Sunday night? :)
