I was shocked pleased surprised. Showed up to our local WINCO at almost 5am and guess what I found?

A very very very long line of shoppers. Why? Well WINCO instituted this and I didn't know anything about it.
Each morning from 5am-7am only folks OVER 65 can shop. You need ID if they ask for it. It started raining a bit before we got in. I zipped around and zoomed up and down the aisles and while there were a few instances of empty shelves it was remarkably normal. There were some limits to how many of what you could buy but I found everything available that was on my list. Well milk was there but only if you wanted half gallon or a gallon. There were no quarts available and that's what I usually get. I wonder if Walmart will go back to being open 24 hours because they're losing a lot of business. if so I wonder if they will have special hours for seniors to shop?We are the most endangered group so I think they are isolating us as well as giving us a chance to get what need. I don't know if every WINCO is doing it but the one in Hemet, California is. Good luck to allo fyou whatever your ages. Shopping used to be a fun thing for me. This new normal is not a lot of fun but we will overcome.

Our WINCO is open 24 hours ... but I haven't heard of them doing anything similar.

I have found that many of the mini-mart (gas station) stores still have supplies the "big box" stores are out of.  EG: Toilet paper and milk.
They generally are more expensive, but people generally don't think of going there.

Of course, now that I've said that, people will empty those shelves.
So ... to all the mini-mart owners ... you're welcome.  LOL

We went to Winco last week and it wasn't happening. Perhaps it is up to the individual stores or perhaps it is something they just started. I have to tell you Walt that is showing respect for us. Isolating us from others and giving us a chance to shop first. Old folks like us are RARELY shown any consideration or respect so my thoughts about Winco which I've always liked shot up. Thank you for your informative reply. :)

I have heard on the news some stores are doing that but I do not remember what the names were.

We were totally overwhelmed m2c. We left early to "beat the crowds" and were stunned to find DOZENS AND DOZENS of people lined up with shopping carts. The gal ahead of us in line was the one who told me about it. I had no idea. I have to tell you that shopping there today was so much better than shopping at Walmart on Tuesday. Now there were some shelves that had a just few things and a few were stripped bare but I got paper towels and kleenex and toilet paper was available too. Everything I had on my list I could get. That was what was on my list when we went to Walmart Tuesday but they didn't have on the shelves. They had quantity limits which is fine because it's just Jim and me. I mean we don't have kids to worry about. It was a revelation. The gal ahead of us said she read that Stater Brothers was doing something like that too. I know you're not old enough to qualify but it is sure is nice to be treated like we MATTER! Thank you for your reply sweetie! :) Still doin' okay today right? The whole family?
