So that their words can't be misinterpreted as something else later ??
I'm glad that we have social sites like this that feature experts in the field of law enforcement as well as practically every other subject known to man. I don't know if I could face a day in the street without consulting the panel of experts found here. I guess that the real difference is that some of us live it and some of us get their info from the biased talking heads of the media. No one "coached" me in writing the answer to this question and nobody "coaches" my responses in the powerful issues of life and death. No one wants to hear truth nor react according to truth and that is the plain truth.
Hello Rosie:
Cops KNOW to say they feared for their life or the life of others.. Then they have carte blanch to fire away.. It's a pretty simple phrase.. Doesn't take much coaching to learn it. But, they don't say that when they wanna murder someone.. Then they yell, DROP the gun, and start shooting.. That's not hard to learn either. If there's NO gun, they'll conveniently leave one..

Good Grief !... And this question is based on exactly what premise ???
......
....I can't say that enough !
Sad that. Planting evidence to c over a cop's a** I guess is SOP. What chance do civilians have for getting fair treat ment? None. Yep. sad that. Thank you for your reply excon! Woe is us! Woe is us. Woe is us! :(

There is a lawyers meme about eyewitnesses: "get one eyewitness and you have your case in the bag; Get 3 eyewitnesses and you have 3 different and mutually contradictory stories".
I expect that applies equally when the 3 are cops, someone needs to coach and coordinate.
Well I suppose it's a logical/practical/safe thing to do. Lawyers coach their witnesses so they wn't say the wrong thing. But I read that in Charlotte, North Carolina the cops are being coached on how to answer questions and what words to use with regard to the killing of an allegedly unarmed man. I don't if it has been determined yet if there wa a gun and whether it might have been planted. I think that's not so good for we the people though

JakobA. Thank you for your reply and Happy Sunday! :)
I read that the Charlotte, North Carolina cops were being coached as to what to say and what words to use about the killing of an allegedly unarmed black man excon. It may well be the safest thing to do...get their stories straight..but I don't think it is such a good thing for we the people to learn that is how cops "prepare" cops for trials

. Every time I think I've heard it all I'm wrong. :(
I'm not sure what you are getting at here Polk. I read that the Charlotte, North Carolina cops were being coached and given precise words to use with regard to the shooting death of an allegedly unarmed black man. I just wonder how many of you think that is a good thing for we the people? It helps to get their stories straight I suppose. Bully for them. Not so hot for us. Thank you for your reply Polk. I'm glad there are places like Answermug where I can ask a question and receive some serious, thoughtul and helpful answers. The smart-a** answers I can do without. But once I ask a question I cannot select whom I would prefer to have answer them. So I take
the good with the crappy since I have no control over it.

If this is true (I, of course, believe you are transmitting your recollection in good faith, but I couldn't find a corroborating report on the Internet), then the irony is police/attorneys are taught NOT to lead/coach witnesses when gathering statements from the general public.
For example, a police officer is NOT supposed to ask a traffic accident witness "Did you see the blue car stop?" Instead, he is supposed to ask "What did you see the blue car do?"
There is a robust body of evidence indicating our recollections of events can be influenced in any number of ways by how questions about those recollections are framed.
In short, if what you report is actually happening, then SHAME SHAME on the police officers who are doing it.
As George Carlin said to the "National Press Club" language has changed a lot.
If the proper terms aren't used... The real truth could get misunderstood to be... um, truth...
Yes, people do tend to take "I was afraid of that N*gg*r, so I shot him" the wrong way...;-D..
Hah! I guess so. Isn't that AWFUL? Thank you for your reply and the link

Nb and Happy Sunday to thee! :)
Yep. Plain language can work against ya! Mahalo for your reply OS and Happy Sunday! :)

I read that the Charlotte, North Caronlina cops have coaches who prep them for what to say and what words to use. "I feared for my life " is the murderer's get out of jail free card. Lawyers prep their clients all the time. Why shouldn't cops memorize a script that will get them a free pass? Mahalo for your reply OS! :)

Don't knock the cops because of a few, The public can be pretty nasty at times and I'm amazed the cops can be so cool at times whe they are being abused.
