We all see/hear the same thing. We all interpret what we see/hear differently according to what we WANT to see/hear that supports our beliefs. Is there any way to fight that? How?

Hard evidence is the most important, eye witnesses are not nessasarily  the best .

Just critical thinking, but that require a good bit of discipline and seems to be pretty difficult for many people.

I wonder if there is anyone so disciplined that he/she can totally remove all subjectivity/prejudice and analyze things based simply on the things themselves. How can we help but bring our skewed views with us whatever think/say/do? I'm sure some folks are better at it than others. I wonder how they do that? Thank you for your thoughtful reply JakobA! :)

That is what is expected of you if you are on a jury and just review the facts of the case of which I have done.
