Discussion»Questions»Current Events and News» Are we that wussie? Our parents and grandparents get called off to war, and all we have to do is sit on our a**es and watch TV.
My father had to fight through most of WW2. In bad weather, with the enemy sending bullets and artillery shells his way, he had stuff like canned sardines and Spam to eat. Day after day. Year after year. He was wounded but refused the 'Purple Heart' medal because "everybody had some injury, so we shrugged it (the medal) off and did the best we could." Of course, his son, me, did not gain entry into the military due to a childhood disability.

We have grown soft in this country. We complain about not enough toilet paper and paper towels. What would we all do if we had to make the same sacrifices as they did in WWII - food and gas rationing, among other things. How would we manage without our smart phones, flat screen TVs, the internet? It's a good thing we only have to fight a virus and not a world war.
