It's a script he acts out for them because he knows that's what they want from him. He doesn't mean a word of it. Not one word. He gets off on conning scamming tricking convincing suckers and that's why he adores his base because he pulls the wool over their heads 24/7 and they yell for more.

They don't mind being made fools of apparently. Not at all. A fool for love right?

    he thinks this is all one big TV show - The president who would be king.  Not only is he the star of this show (never upstage the star), but he's also the director (or as he says, "that's executive director").  To him, everyone else is an extra.  he believes everyone tunes in just to see him (notice how he struts in front of a camera).  If he makes a gaffe, no worries as the editors will simply edit it out. (whoopsie, I blinked... let's do another take).  his rallies are nothing more than celebrity events where he struts in front of his devoted fans and they cheer him (he even signs autographs).  Reading a teleprompter is for rookies, he's so good he can "shoot from the hip" (and it impresses his fans).  he lost touch with reality decades ago.  (line!)

    He is a phony from head to toe always playing to the crowd. Like a third rate lounge act with only drunks to watch/listen to him. This is a part that was cast very badly. We should fire the casting director but it was millions of people who cast him...all of whom are equally third rate for thinking third rate is so great! What do they know? They know from nothing. They don't even realize that he makes fools of all of them all of the time for fun. Thank you for your thoughtful reply Shuhak! :)
