A possible warning: I received an e-mail from a supposed former mugger. I did not recognize her name (Jess).

How she got my e-mail address and name, I know not. Only a handful of folks here know them. She said she was banned and really wants to come back. It may have been bogus, so I did not answer it.

Definitely some shadiness going on here recently. Someone who is a returning mugger reached out to me on here over the weekend and seemed innocent enough, just catching up. but after yesterday and some messages it’s got me creeped out. I may be being paranoid,  but I don’t think so and I’d rather be cautious than stupid. Not sure if it’s related to your thing or not.

Why don't you ask her for the link to her old profile here?

That requires opening her e-mail, which, if bogus could inject a virus. Not taking any chances.

Fair enough. Why are you so paranoid that there's a virus in it?

When it comes to my computer, I am paranoid about everything.

That doesn’t necessarily have to be called paranoia. Being cautious is being smart. One of the number one ways to cause someone harm on a computer is to send an “innocent-looking” email message.

Much smarter not to open her email.  Never know what virus (besides COVID-10) you'll get.
