Under our Constitution we have certain rights. Just because we have a right does not mean we are obligated to excercise that right. (No one is forced to bare arms, no one is forced to attend church, no one is forced to vote, etc by the government) But the government is not allowed attack/take away those rights without due process under the law.
I'm wondering what Right and situation you are referring to.
Though you did get me thinking. If we have a Right to Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness ... wouldn't those Rights also encompass our choice of when to end our Life?
It need not be a specific RIGHT Walt. It can apply to any situation. The Constitution gives us the RIGHT to bear arms. That RIGHT does not make bearing arms a NECESSITY to exercise 24/7. Having the RIGHT to do something is like an insurance policy. It's there if you need it. A cushion just in case. Just my opinion. Thank you for your reply! :)
I wasn't sure if you were referring to a specific incident ... such as those churches wanting to exercise their Rights to assemble and worship, despite the current health situation.
Intelligence means you adjust your actions to changing situations. Lack of intelligence means you stick to what you have always done no matter what and are rigidly certainly that your way is the right way and any other way is wrong. I agree with that tom. Wanton and promiscuous use of advantage dilutes it and can even render it inadvantageous. Judicious use is good. Knowing it's there if you need it and never using it is even better. An insurance policy for "just in case". Thank you for your reply. That is comforting to know don't you think?
I was just explaining to someone that there is no "Right" to housing or medical care. Why? Because you have no "Right" to force somebody to build you a house, or provide you with medical care. And even if you did - do you really want to force somebody to provide you medical care if they don't want to? Can you imagine what would happen if you tried to force somebody to operate on you, if they didn't want to? One slip of the scalpel, and their problem is solved - and you're dead. LOL
You are talking about the deadbeats and cheapskates and those who ride on the coattails of others. You speak of the lazy bums who expect others to do the work for them as if it is their due. I can ruffle many feathers with this one, so I tried to keep it down. But I was also talking about normal "honest" americans. The ones who flaunt the constitution as if it were meant only for them.
