How do you choose between PONDERING and WONDERING? Is one deeper, more profound than the other?

Do you wonder as you wander or do you ponder?

Just off the top of my head - no dictionary involved here:

Pondering is having a set of facts and determining which is best applied to the situation in which you find yourself.

Wondering is trying to determine what are the facts so you can ponder which is the correct course to take.

Just my two cents (no pun intended).

I haven't looked it up either L. Here's my take. I wonder why people are the way they are. I ponder upon such things as what is the purpose of life, are there other dimensions than the 3 we comprehend with our senses, will the species homo sapiens survive or will it be among those that became extinct?. So I guess I save pondering for "way out there" questions and my wonderings for closer to home as it were. Thank you for your reply! :)

I think that's as good an explanation or definition as any.  Each of us views the world from a different platform depending on how and where we were raised.  Makes life interesting. :)
