Why are lies always white?

Aren't they available in other colors, like crayons or paint?

I would guess they come in many colours,
tempered by the emotion and motivation of the liar
and the consequences of the lie.

Consider what Victor Frankel said of his experiences of the Nazi selection queues. Depending on what occupation a Jew declared, he or she was sent to death or slave labour. The right lie could give the liar the chance of survival through a time of total inhumanity. I would call such a lie not only white but necessary and stainless.

That is rather disciminatory. We need some protests when this pesky virus thing has abated.

Only some lies are white lies. Those are the victimless kind: “Santa Claus is coming”; ”Your wife is lovely”; and “Everything happens for a reason”.

They differ from truly dangerous lies, like: ”Eat this, and you can fly”; “The President has total authority”; and “God wills it!”.
