Relax, due to COVID19, everyone all over the world is at home, it’s a Sunday morning here in the US, hundreds flock to The Church Of Professor Element.

It's almost 700 now. I might break the record on the leader board.

leader board leaderboard. But who's counting? Obviously you are. I've never even noticed such a thing. This post was edited by Stu Spelling Bee at April 26, 2020 2:43 PM MDT

Odd you should point that out. That was my first choice, but when I typed it, it red-lined.

A red line doesn't mean you're wrong. You just need to know when you're right, which is not a problem for me.

Or you could do serious damage to the entire internet.

I asked about this once and JA said something about web crawlers and keywords or something. I can’t remember exactly but it’s not actual views. it’s “bots” or something.

They all have different causes. I can look at the analytics and usually tell what's happening with any given one. Whatever it was with yours before might have been bots, but it looks like Element's is real people who found it in Google and wanted more info.

Oh wow lol. It wasn’t one of my questions but I remember I commented on a question asked that about a thousand views in less than ten minutes and you had said google words and bots or something like that. Was a While ago so I can’t remember exactly what the question was or exact details.

I don't doubt I said that. Sometimes it is bots. I can usually figure out what caused a surge based on the characteristics of the traffic though. This one appears to be live humans using Google.

Like I said I don’t remember exactly how you explained it. I‘ve seen lots of views on a question before, but it was a really high amount in a really short amount of time kinda same as element‘s and you explained it somehow lol.

It is, of course, comforting to know that dead humans don't use Google!

I didn't say that. I just said the ones from this event appeared to be live. Word on the street is that Google plans to roll out a new zombie detection feature in the near future so, you know, that's subject to change. ;)

Element 99, I just looked at the question in question, and I think I know the answer to your question about why or how the question has so many hits within such a short time. It has to do with the topic, one which is currently trending at a viral level. You’ve referenced the hot item of consuming a common household cleaning agent, and given its recent popularity of discussion, it went through the roof based on internet connectivity to this website. Don’t ask me to explain the innards of computerdom, that’s far beyond my feeble brain’s realm of decipherin’.

Well.. a person wanted to reply, but then chickened out (reply would be appropriate) and closed the page.  Then they tried it again... but once more chickened out (reply might be misconstrued - closed page) .  So they tried again, and again, and again - each time not posting and closing the page.   After about 300 tries, they finally gave up.  (yer welkum!)

Actually, in your case, 95% of the people are coming in from Google. They're non-members who are searching for something (Google won't tell us what) and your question comes up for them, so they come look. It's honestly a little frightening that people are looking for info on bleach and whiskey. The state of the world today is something else. Weird.

Comment to Shuhak:  So True!  The power of the internet is scary. I would like to message you.  I have a question and I'm hoping you have the answer.
It's a computer question.  I don't want to talk about this any further under this question since it has no relevance.
    Is that O.K.?
