"The DNC keeps shooting itself in the foot". A fine observation from an Answermug friend who isn't even an American! So can YOU tell me why?

The DEMS went with Hillary in 2016 and lost. Her time had come and gone competing with Obama.
The DEMS had a bounteous depth in their 2020 candidates and what are they left with? Good old Joe.

Is this a pattern DEMS will never adjust or change? It didn't work the first time so we keep doing it over and over and over and over again? This makes sense how?

I think in this particular election, the Dems are more concerned with who can beat Trump than anything else.  My personal opinion is that we needed some younger blood to take us forward, but the young Turks didn't really have the experience to pull off a win against Trump.  I think Sanders and Warren are a little too far left for most people.  The country is made up of more people who have moderate views than those on the extreme left or right.  I don't want to work hard so someone can sit back and relax on my dime, nor do I want the deck so stacked against me that no matter how hard I work, the spoils will go to a very small number of people who don't need it at all.

There were others though that might have done the job. For myself personally once again I'm disappointed not excited. I think you know I wanted Kamala Harris but I also kinda liked Mayor Pete. Both VERY SMART and we know GAG ain't. Of course any pick is going to be a crapshoot. No one KNOWS how well or badly he/she will do a job until he/she is in it and starts doing. I don't know if Joe will go the distance. I think he is basically a good man. Anyone is better than GAG so comparing is not worth much. So we do what we can with we got and hope it will be enough. SIGH. Thank you for your reply. It's interesting you speak of your working hard and some will sit back and relax on your dime! THE OBSCENELY WEALTHY do that all the time L. They are known for living off the backs of those who work. They are the real WELFARE QUEENS and Pumpkina** is one of them. Was it their ilk to which you referred? I hope so. :) This post was edited by RosieG at May 5, 2020 7:21 AM MDT

I, too, liked Mayor Pete and with a little more experience, he might have gone further.  He needs more seasoning to hold the world stage.  He is VERY smart and has common sense and a good public demeanor.  No, we don't know how well Joe will do.  I shudder every time he seems befuddled.  We already have one like that, we don't need to elect another.  However, I agree that at his core, I believe he is a good man and would work for the benefit of everyone.  Yes, I did mean the obscenely wealthy. :)

I thought so honey. Well there is always 2024. Joe can't be thinking of running again should he win. Ya think? If his veep is good I suppose the natural thing would be for her (pretty much gonna hafta to be a her don't you think?) to run and hopefully win! Thank you for your thoughtful reply! :)

I can't imagine anyone will vote for Joe in 2024.  Hopefully, he will have a really good VP who will carry it forward.  I agree that he's probably thinking seriously about a female VP.  I just hope he doesn't make the same mistake McCain did!

Oh. Maryann Williamson? I never really listened to her. Isn't she some sort of religious mystic or something? Not my cuppa tea! Thank you for your reply L and Happy Tuesday to thee! :)

Yes, Williamson.  Couldn't think of her name!  Yes, I believe she was receiving messages from the Universe.  Not my cuppa tea either. :)  Happy Tuesday. :)

I like Buttigieg as well, but I am not sure he could have beaten Trump.
