Once upon a time the world embraced us. Remember 9/11? All the lives that were lost were precious. What happened to us?

Now we are told that "some lives may be lost in the push to re-open" but there is no hesitation to re-open.

Well I suppose knowing how many "some" is would be of considereable help.

Dozens
Hundreds
Thousands
Millions

Where is the line that, if crossed, would render that reopen decision evil and wrong and bad?

Who decides what that number is?

If/when that decision was proven to be stupid dumb and very wrong who gets the blame?

    History. Always. Repeats.
In 1918, Philadelphia refused to cancel a parade. A month later, the SECOND wave of the Spanish flu hit and killed thousands - almost all of whom had been at the parade or had come into contact with someone who had been at that parade in the meantime.
Lemmings will do what lemmings do - the tragedy is the unwitting souls who will be infected in the coming weeks by associating with these morons.

I know and there is nothing I can do about it but wring my hands and moan groan kvetch. None of which does any good. You know that once the avalanche is triggered you just get out of the way. This triggers an avalanche of unknown proportion. They KNOW it will cause more deaths. They are doing it anyway. This is America today R. It really helps me personally to have people like you who are thoughtful and aware give us input about how you see it. Being inside the situation makes it impossible to observe it too. So here we are. At the beginning? I don't know. We will find out soon enough. Thank you for your reply and Happy Wednesday to you and yours! :) You know New Zealand and YOUR COUNTRY was singled out for the intelligent way in which you have reacted to the virus. No surprise there!

NZ was better, Jacinda Adern is a leader they can be proud if (and I'm frankly envious). Scummo had to be dragged to the table kicking and screaming, and only after his Hillsong cult's whoop-te-do was over (the delay caused dozens more cases). He brags about 'stopping the boats', but he didn't stop the important one - the cruise ship that was singlehandedly responsible for 10% of ALL COVID-19 cases in Australia - because the parents-in-law of one of his cabinet secretaries were aboard, as were a few members of that same cult. OMG R! Have they no decency? I guess all gubments are CORRUPT and the only difference degree.
Just like our great leader brags about stopping folks from China from coming here! Then ignoring completely everything until mid-March! I have read that the virus actually came to us via Europe. Whether that is true or not I don't know. No one ever takes responsibility for anything. They are uniformly expert at pointing fingers/blaming others. When it comes right down to it maybe it is only the idiost who are drawn to politics with a rare/occasion exception! Thank you for your reply R. Will there ever be a 100% honest honorable gubment? I shall ask.
