Discussion»Statements»Rosie's Corner» D'ya like to eat mystery meat? Ever hear of HEADCHEESE? Our Hawaiian citizens love SPAM. That's ham. What's headcheese?
Neither of those "foods" appeal to me. Spam is like eating at a salt lick. I've never eaten headcheese and the likelihood of me ever trying is it probably -0.
Spam made their first batch in 1937. They recently announced that they were making their second batch this week. :)
Too funnee hunnee. So all the lunch plates including spam have been "living off" meat spawned in 1937 the year I was born? Good grief gadzooks good golly miss molly THAT'S OLD. I don't why SPAM is so favored in Hawaii. It's not as bad when combined with saltless foods like potatoes or onions and crumbled up. Not a favorite in our house though. As for headcheese Armenians have something similar...we call it patcha but it's served warm. I will tell a memory of mine was not so hot. My grandparents for whatever reason decided to boil the Patcha in our kitchen not theirs. They lived several blocks away. I think it was a sheep's head they used in a large soup pot and the stench (I used that word advisedly) drove me and my sister outside. As I recall they took it home to eat and I don't know if my folks got some of it. I do know my sister and I never were faced with having to try it. But that is what they knew having grown up on it in "the old country". I expect I had I'd feel very differently about it. I mean Scottish people like something inedible too don't they? Haggis I think it's called. What is scrapple but mush with parts of pork. Which parts? And there is a Mexican sausage called Chorizo I never eat because the ingredients include salivary glands. Some cultures eat eyeballs too or is that just in the movies? Thank you for your reply L and Happy Friday! :)
