Ya my familly and I got caught in the Detroit riots in the 60's. People were shouting things like kill whitey so it was way scary. Thankfully a black  familly surrounded us and protected us. Cheers and happy weekend!

Oh my gosh Nanoose. That must have been so frightening. You were just a kid then right? You may know I was born in Highland Park, A suburb of Detroit but we moved to California in 1940. Of course we had the L.A. Riots here in the 90's. Sigh. I guess riots are a fact of life. Thank you for your reply. No riots in Canada I betcha, right?

I was almost in one.  In St Louis at the Guns N Roses concert.  There was a riot but we had left early because we did not like the feel of the place.

People being beat by the security. We heard something that sounded like gun shot (IDK if was a gun or fireworks)  We had really only went for the opening act and that was done.  Security was bad...people sneaking stuff in. The crowd having camera was why the group left the stage early.  We thankfully had made our way to the parking lot when it all it the fan.

We went back for a different concert. Security was better but I know someone who was still able to sneak a camera inside.

Yes MLK did say it. But he did not support nor condone riots at all.

MLK: Violence as a way of achieving racial justice is both impractical and immoral.

...I think America must see that riots do not develop out of thin air. Certain conditions continue to exist in our society which must be condemned as vigorously as we condemn riots. But in the final analysis, a riot is the language of the unheard. And what is it that America has failed to hear? It has failed to hear that the plight of the Negro poor has worsened over the last few years. It has failed to hear that the promises of freedom and justice have not been met. And it has failed to hear that large segments of white society are more concerned about tranquility and the status quo than about justice, equality, and humanity.
